No soggy bottoms – It’s time for The Great British Bake Off Final

The Great British Bake Off

Tomorrow night at 8pm on BBC2 is the long-awaited Great British Bake Off Final. It’s definitely been long-awaited in my house, a week is a long time right? After last week’s semi final where we found out who the three semi finalists would be I have been counting down the days to the final.

Baking is a big hobby of mine, both baking myself and also watching various baking programmes and finding new baking ideas on pinterest. If I had more time I would like to develop the skill but don’t count on seeing me on the programme. I think I’d faint at Paul Hollywood’s feet. He’s a bit on a surprise hunk isn’t he? Those eyes…

I always have to have food on stand by when I’m watching the programme. Although I do try to make my snacks as healthy as possible. I get hungry just watching the trailers for the next episode, I’m getting hungry thinking about it now.

I have had so many favourites throughout this series and have watched them all leave. One of them still remains and that is James. His baking concoctions can be inventive and sometimes they don’t work but he is always giving his all. He doesn’t have an ego but mostly I really want to eat what he makes!

John is probably the one of the contestants that I am most surprised is in the final, he’s never really amazed me in the way the others have. The episode where he cut himself and managed to have a glove full of blood is still vivid in my imagination. Yuck!

Brendan has been star baker on a consistent basis, smug in his demeanour I have found it quite hard to like him but his baking is really amazing. This is after all a baking competition.

The innuendo has been high this series with two of my favourite presenters, Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc. I was hooked on their lunch time show Light Lunch. They are always looking for soggy bottoms or whether it has a good wobble. There are even bingo and drinking games based around the bake off innuendo’s.

Baking products have also seen an increase in popularity too. I’ll admit I’ve stepped up my baking efforts since seeing this series, as long as you have fun baking it’s worth having a go! I definitely want to have a go at making my own jam doughnuts and chocolate teacakes.

So who do you think will win the Final? Are you a fan of James’s jumpers?
