College Student Debt (infographic)

College seems like the time when you will be working towards a career that will earn you plenty of money, and you’ll never have to worry about being low on finances again. Although your ultimate goal of going through the college process is to eventually have a great career and be financially independent, the truth is college is a costly investment. There are ways to help fund your college experience through grants, work-study programs or scholarships, these funds are far and few as funding begins to get cut more and more. Taking out a loan is commonplace among students, and it’s a fairly easy process. However, many students forget to take into account that not only do these funds have to be paid back but that they will also be paying the interest that accumulates from these loans.

In 2012, the average debt per student was $25,000. Even if you gave your entire paycheck away the first year after college, it may not cover this amount because of the interest it’s already accrued. People in their sixties are still paying off their own student loans, making the entire process seem very daunting. Rather than going into college and the loan repayment process with a blind eye, find out more about student debt, loans, and exactly how much it could cost you with this infographic. Keep in mind college can be very beneficial to your career but it can be even more beneficial to be prepared for the costs of higher education.
