It doesn’t seem that long ago that the idea of providing Software as a Service was just a buzzword, and nothing more. Today, Software as a Service is an incredibly common business model, and most of us use at least one SaaS provider every day in the form of Gmail or Hotmail. SaaS is so ubiquitous that it no longer needs a name.
The “As a Service” idea is still growing, however, and over the next year we can expect to see some huge growth in all niches. Take a look at these projected growths, or look at the below infographic for even more details:
- Software – 7%
- Infrastructure – 11%
- Storage – 13%
- CDN – 11%
- Platform – 12%
- Database 13%
All of the above niches saw growth in 2013, and project growth for the next financial year. Consumers and businesses are transmitting hundreds of exabytes of data through cloud services every year, and not only is demand constantly growing, the rate of growth is showing no signs of tapering. It’s been a long time coming, but thanks to the widespread availability of high speed broadband and the acceptance of the Internet as a normal form of communication, the cloud has finally arrived.
