A recent study by UK Saunas into British wellness habits has revealed that Gwyneth is not the UK’s top celebrity wellness guru.
By analysing searches around wellness brands spanning skincare, fitness and holistic wellness, Kate Hudson and Trinny Woodall’s brands stood head and shoulders above Goop in the UK.
Hudson’s Fabletics receives 97,000 searches per month, followed by Trinny London with 76,000 and Paltrow’s Goop at 22,000.
Trinny London and Goop are currently both valued at £180m ($250m), Fabletics is valued at £219m ($300m).
Woodall’s company was founded in 2017, while Goop started as a wellness newsletter in 2008. Both women started their brands from their kitchen tables and have now grown them into internationally recognised companies in the beauty and wellness industries.
The UK’s favourite celebrity wellness brands
| Brand | Celebrity | Search Volume |
| Fabletics | Kate Hudson | 97000 |
| Trinny London | Trinny Woodall | 76000 |
| Goop | Gwyneth Paltrow | 22000 |
| Florence by Mills | Millie Bobby Brown | 9200 |
| Womanizer | Lily Allen | 7300 |
| Victoria Beckham Beauty | Victoria Beckham | 6600 |
| Ivy Park | Beyonce | 6400 |
| Kylie Skin | Kylie Jenner | 5300 |
| Poosh | Kourtney Kardashian | 5200 |
| Honest Beauty | Jessica Alba | 3500 |
Lily Allen-backed sex toy company Womanizer also ranked highly, with over 7,300 people searching for the brand. Sexual wellness is an emerging aspect of the industry which is expected to reach a market size of £29bn by 2025 so backing by celebrity figures will no doubt encourage this level of growth.
While most of the celebrities who have founded wellness companies hail from the US, Spice Girls Victoria Beckham and Emma Bunton both have their own brands, with Beckham’s focusing on beauty and skincare while Bunton’s focuses on baby wellbeing.
The wellness industry in the UK is valued at £19.6bn ($27bn) so it’s no wonder celebrities of all kinds are throwing their hat in the ring. Gwyneth Paltrow arguably started the trend and is the most synonymous with wellness but Hudson’s Fabletics has a broad appeal across the health industry which likely has helped push her to the top of the ranking.
The best UK cities for wellness
The study by UK Saunas also identified leading trends across UK cities in fitness, skincare, mental wellbeing and sexual wellbeing.
Norwich is the best city in the UK for wellness, coming out top in three of the four categories. Cambridge and Bath followed in second and third place.
Each city was given a score out of 48 for each factor, totalling a score out of 144 for the 4 main wellness categories.

The study examined online search behaviours, as well as presence of facilities like gyms and spas per 10,000 people and environmental factors like pollution levels.
Brian Clarke, owner of UK Saunas stated, “The wellness industry is expected to grow consistently at a rate of over 6 per cent a year, highlighting how important the many facets of the industry are to our lives.
Celebrity-backed projects are helping to cement the value of wellness practices into our everyday culture and are expanding what people understand wellness to be.
Whether it’s our physical health, mental health, or even the health of our relationships, taking care of and improving ourselves is a vital practice that countless people are working on right now.
Thanks to lockdowns and social restrictions, many people will have started to consider the state of their wellbeing even more seriously than before, which may have an even greater impact on the expansion of the wellness industry.”
