If there’s anything we’ve all done over the last 18 months, it’s making use of our Netflix subscriptions! And one thing that kept on coming up, regardless of genre, is everyone on television has an amazing home. Shows tend to use locations as a way to convey information about their central characters, the location they’re based in and the time period is through their home. This leads to television homes being incredibly stylised, from the sleek sixties fashion of Mad Men to Monica’s cosy purple front door in Friends. In fact, the aesthetics of a show often end up being as iconic a part of the show as its central characters. Especially on Netflix which really focuses on creating striking styles you can’t help but think about… and dream about… for weeks after you finished binge-watching. Who didn’t watch The Queen’s Gambit without wanting her entire wardrobe?
We never see the characters fretting over the perfect shade of cream or struggling to find the throw blanket that will pull it all together – it’s already all just there! That’s why Express Doors put together these mood boards inspired by our favourite Netflix shows. This offers a wide range of styles from how to create your own eighties-chic Stanger Things living room to a study inspired by the calmness of Cobra Kai’s Miyagi-Do.
These mood boards offer everything you need to start your own style overhaul, from aptly named colour palettes to furniture inspiration. You might need to do some trawling through charity shops to really get the retro vibes of Sex Education, but wouldn’t it be worth it? It’s a perfect project if you want to breathe some new life into your home and make every room stand out. You can even do your very own crossover episode and mix and match between shows to create something truly unique. Ratched meets Sweetooth, anyone?
