New research has revealed some of the most aesthetic beer gardens and rooftop bars in the UK, based on Instagram hashtag data.
Lighting specialists LED & Power analysed TripAdvisor and Instagram data in a bid to discover the locations of some of the most aesthetic beer gardens and rooftop bars across the UK, as well as collaborating with various experts to provide tips on how homeowners can create a cool ‘beer garden’ vibe in their own outdoor space.
Research focused on the top 50 suggested locations on TripAdvisor – with an average rating of 4 or above – for the search terms “beer garden” or “rooftop bar”, and results were filtered to the United Kingdom only. Using this list of 50 venues, the uses of venue-specific hashtags on Instagram was analysed to determine which are currently the most popular on the image-sharing platform.

Based on venue-specific hashtag uses on Instagram, the top 10 venues included:
1. Hippodrome Casino (London) – #hippodromecasino used 9,900 times
2. Bar Elba (London) – #barelba used 5,800 times
3. ME London (London) – #melondon used 5,000 times
4. Madison (London) – #madisonlondon used 4,000 times
5. Sea Containers London (London) – #seacontainerslondon used 2,300 times
6. Radisson RED Hotel (Glasgow) – #radissonredglasgow used 1,600 times
7. Aviary (London) – #aviarylondon used 1,500 times
8. Rooftop Gardens (Norwich) – #rooftopgardensnorwich used 1,300 times
9. One New Change (London) – #rooftopgardensnorwich used 1,200 times
10. 12th Knot (London) – #12thknot used 1,200 times
The top three included Hippodrome Casino in London (#hippodromecasino used 9,900 times), Bar Elba in London (#barelba used 5,800 times), and ME London (#melondon used 5,000 times). Madison in London narrowly missed out on the top three, with 4,000 venue-specific hashtag uses.
Sea Containers in London, Radisson RED Hotel in Glasgow, Aviary in London, and Rooftop Gardens in Norwich also made it into the top 10, with both One New Change and 12th Knot, both in London, tying for the final position.
