We see this clearly with Linda – she has a lot of tells, ranging from how she delivers her lines to her reaction when Claudia addresses a traitor, or when someone questions her directly.
“Equally, Armani pushed her traitorous position too hard early on. Her confident approach to the role meant that she stood out from the group with several players picking up on her tells in the days before her banishment.
“Conversely, maintaining a ‘poker face’ is crucial to avoid revealing any information. This means staying composed, controlling facial expressions, and keeping movements steady and deliberate. The best traitors practice neutrality in both their reactions and responses, making it difficult for others to discern their true intentions. Traitors do differ from poker players in that they can’t be too ‘poker-faced’ as they need to seem trustworthy and faithful to their peers so too much neutrality would look suspicious.
“A great example of this is Minah, who can keep her expressions in check when needed but comes across as a team player with good morals. In contrast, Armani was obvious with her intentions, which may be why she was banished. Her insistence on talking about other players and sharing theories made her look suspicious.
“So if you’re planning on applying for next season or if you’re sitting at a poker table, understanding when and how to use these skills can be the key to outwitting the competition.”
