Although many of us will be reaching for our shades to deal with the heat, for those who wear makeup, they’ll know firsthand the struggles of keeping makeup looking perfect throughout the day when wearing sunglasses.
To prevent the likes of foundation transferring from the bridge of your nose to making sure your sunglasses work with your blush placement, Jess Clarke, a beauty expert from LOOKFANTASTIC has shared her best tips.
Switch to powder formulas
The biggest makeup problem while wearing sunglasses is your foundation rubbing off throughout the day. A good way to prevent this problem is to swap liquid or cream foundations to a powder foundation, which is typically more lightweight and helps to minimise any movement. However, avoid setting powder foundation with a loose face powder, as this can cause skin to appear flaky or patchy.
Use a good setting powder if you’re wearing liquid or cream foundation
If you are wearing a cream or liquid foundation, then setting your makeup with powder is the best way to increase its longevity. Target those little areas that your glasses touch the most, like the bridge of your nose or on your temples, to ensure that you’re not left with transfer marks as your day goes on. You can even try baking with powder around problem areas for that extra staying power.
Apply setting spray liberally
Regardless of your choice of base, a good setting spray is key to keeping your makeup in place. Make sure to apply it liberally, focusing largely around your nose and undereye, then give it plenty of time to dry and set properly.
Put setting powder on your sunglasses
Another hack is to dust some loose setting powder on the parts of your sunglasses that touch your face. This works by creating a barrier that reduces any friction, and oil or sweat build-up, preventing glasses from wiping away your makeup.
Use glasses to determine your blush application
To add that final rosy hue, apply your blush with your glasses on. This allows you to get the perfect placement to suit the frames you’re wearing.
