Winter holidays are great fun and usually spectacular, especially if you have taken a city break where you get to experience the allure and romance of an unusual place. There is just something amazing about being freezing cold yet surrounded by the unfamiliar; the sense of curiosity and the need to get out and about to discover the place has this great ability to keep the cold at bay.
Of course, we are talking here about winter holidays where it is actually the winter where you are and where you are planning to go. You aren’t going to need much direction about what to where if you are heading off to a tropical location where all you have to do is kick back and sit on the beach, or relax around the pool with a colourful cocktail.
What are the biggest tips for dressing well during a winter holiday?
Go for Convenience First
Okay, so while we know the most important thing about winter fashion is staying true to style and not just abandoning everything we know in the name of keeping warm, when you go on holiday we should adapt our mind-set just a little. The reason for this is because, unless you have gone a little wild, you aren’t going to have taken that much stuff on holiday with you.
Wearing a dress on a cold night when you are close to home is understandable, because you know where you are and if anything happens with the dress you can get home quickly. During a winter holiday, you just need to stick to jeans, knitwear, and other easy to wear and deal with clothes.
That is not to say they still shouldn’t look good! We still want to see you in the latest denim and most stylish winter jumpers!
Make Your Coat the Leader
To add to the points we just raised, your coat is the most important thing you will take on holiday. Even if the weather is good when you leave, wear the coat – you get more room in your suitcase this way. If you are heading on a holiday in the coming weeks, it is likely you will have already bought your winter coat for this season, so you should not have anything to worry about. If you haven’t made your purchase yet, hit the shops before you are left with what no one else wanted to buy.
Sensible Shoes
It is perfectly natural to want to take our favourite pair of shoes or boots on holiday. However, you will probably only have space for the ones you are wearing, especially during shorter weekend breaks, so it is important to be sensible with what you take. We’d suggest you forget about UGG boots or anything similar – what if they are ruined by rain or snow – and instead go for leather boots or even plimsolls from a brand such as Converse.
There’s nothing like a winter holiday, but you need to make sure you dress the part to have the most enjoyable time possible!
